Jenkins We need the fans' back

HUW Jenkins today urged fans to stand by Swansea City as the club faces up to a dip in season-ticket sales, admitting: "We need you now more than ever."

Swansea are yet to reveal how many tickets they had sold ahead of last night's deadline for discounted prices.

But it is understood there has been a drop on last season's total of around 9,000 -- and Jenkins wants Swansea's followers to come out in support of their team.

"There are probably a number of reasons which explain why we have not sold as many season tickets as we did last year," Jenkins said. "We realise that with the financial climate as it is, it's difficult swarovski crystal Zircon Bracelet for people to commit money at the present time.

"We also know that we had some disappointments as a club at the end of last season, and realise that may also have had an impact on ticket sales.

"But I am still hopeful that people will carry on buying season tickets even though the deadline has passed, and I am hopeful that more will .each week next season. "Every year we are looking to get greater numbers of people through the gate -- every club wants to do that -- and we need the fans' support now more than ever." Jenkins admits the drop in the number of season tickets sold will inevitably have an impact on Swansea's spending power when it comes to player recruitment. And that is bad news when Swansea are already short on financial muscle compared to a host of second-tier rivals. "Season tickets and general gate income do have a bearing on what we can do as a club," Jenkins conceded. "The fact that we are in the same division for the third successive season may have impacted on the sales. "In the past we have been a club who have gone up and down the divisions regularly, and perhaps some people are taking our Championship status for granted.
